Jon Jones pulled from UFC 200 for possible doping violation

Jon Jones has a potential failed doping test per USADA and has been removed from UFC 200, the UFC announced Wednesday night.

Jones was expected to fight bitter rival Daniel Cormier in the main event of the tentpole event, which was trending to be the biggest pay-per-view in UFC history. Instead, the heavyweight matchup between Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt will be the headliner.

UFC president Dana White said the former light heavyweight champion “might get [suspended] two years” for the violation. Jones has the right to appeal the positive result.

The UFC did not announce what exactly Jones tested positive for and it said it would like to keep reigning champ Cormier on the card if possible.

Cormier talked with the media shortly after the announcement and expressed his disappointment, but said he’s “not the moral police” and “it’s not my place to judge him.”

“USADA changes a lot of things,” Cormier said. “It’s a great organization and they are going to clean up our sport.”
