Joanne Calderwood Gets Home Country Fight Against Bec Rawlings at UFC Glasgow

Scottish fighter Joanne Calderwood has been pleading with the UFC for a fight when the promotion goes to her home country in July, and now she has one. UFC officials on Friday announced that Calderwood would fight Bec Rawlings on July 18 at SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

Rawlings wasted no time jumping on the hype train for the fight, quickly taking to Twitter once the fight was announced.

Calderwood (9-1) last fought in April, when Maryna Moroz submitted her via an armbar. It marked the first time in Scottish fighter's career that she tasted defeat, and she certainly doesn't want to go through it again when she fights in Glasgow.

Like Calderwood, Rawlings (6-4) made her way into the Octagon via The Ultimate Fighter. Unlike Calderwood, Rawlings enters this fight coming off of a victory. She submitted Lisa Ellis earlier this month in Australia, and hopes to ride the momentum of that win into the bout with Calderwood.

UFC Fight Night Glasgow doesn't yet have a main event, but there have been several other bouts announced. To check out the fight card thus far, go to the UFC Fight Night 72 fight card page in the MMAWeekly.com Rumors section.
