Joanna Jedrzejczyk Puts Strawweight Belt on the Line at UFC 205

Joanna Jedrzejczyk Demolishes Jessica Andrade: ‘There is Only One' (UFC 211 Results)

Shortly after her last title defense, Joanna Jedrzejczyk had a venue and an opponent in mind. On Friday, UFC officials announced that she would get her wish.

Jedrzejczyk will put her strawweight championship on the line against fellow Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 205 on Nov. 12 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Jedrzejczyk (12-0) has been nothing unshort of unstoppable since she arrived in the Octagon. She debuted in June of 2014 and won the strawweight championship just two fights later, making short work of then-champion Carla Esparza.

She has since defended the fight in three consecutive fights, beating Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, and Claudia Gadelha.

Also undefeated, Kowalkiewicz (10-0) hopes to be the one to finally stop her countrywoman. Though she hasn't been under the UFC banner as long, she's been impressive.

Kowalkiewicz has won all three of her UFC fights, culminating in a split-decision victory over Rose Namajunas in her most recent fight at UFC 201, which cemented her position as the next in line for a shot at the belt.

The two have met once before in an amateur bout in Poland. Jedrzejczyk won the bout via a first-round rear-naked choke.

UFC 205 does not yet have a headliner, but the fight card is filling up fast with the UFC planning to unveil the full fight card at a press conference in New York on Tuesday.
