When Jimmy Butler gave out his cell phone number during his introductory Minnesota Timberwolves press conference this past summer, NBA fan Sheldon Jack Bowen signed the All-Star wing up for his fantasy basketball league and added his number to a group text with his friends as a practical joke.

Butler never texted back, never made a roster move, and therefore lost the fantasy league. So, when it came time to collect entry fees at the end of the season, Bowen sent Butler a bill for $20 on Twitter:

Butler noticed the tweet and ordered his agent, Bernie Lee, who confirmed Bowen’s account to USA Today’s Sam Amick, to make good on his fantasy failure. Lee got Bowen’s address and sent a pair of autographed game-worn Jordan sneakers, Butler’s No. 23 Timberwolves jersey and of course a $20 bill.

Remember when Jimmy Butler posted his number on ESPN for his critics? Well we added him to our fantasy basketball group…

“Pretty cool to see a athlete and agent generosity first hand,” Bowen wrote on Facebook.

Bowen said the fantasy league champion received the jersey and the runner-up got Butler’s $20 bill.
