Jeremy Vine has admitted to feeling “slightly terrified” as his wife gears up to join him on his show.

Journalist and presenter Rachel Schofield, who has been married to Vine for 18 years, is to stand in for his usual co-host Storm Huntley while she is away.

The husband and wife team will be presenting Vine’s daily Channel 5 programme together for a week.

“I’m slightly terrified,” confessed Vine, 55.

He went on: “She is of course streets ahead of me in every dimension, so I know I’ll be in good hands.

“Secretly I can’t wait.

“And there’ll be at least four alarm clocks going off in our house on the first morning.”

Schofield said it was a “unique opportunity” because she and her husband had never ventured into a studio together before.

She quipped that it would also be “great to eat breakfast together for once, even though it’s at 5am!”

After the news was announced, she posted a message on Twitter asking her followers: “Any words of wisdom for working with your other half? Or indeed getting up at 4.45am?”

Vine tweeted a link to a news story about them joining forces alongside a grimacing face emoji.

The pair met in 2001 and tied the knot the following year, and have two children together.
