Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's split has fans wondering about Brad Pitt

Is the world ready for Brad and Jen: The Sequel? Or are fans just letting their imaginations run rampant?

Though the ink is barely dry on Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s joint announcement that they decided to separate at the end of 2017 after two years of marriage, the internet is already wondering how Aniston’s ex-husband, Brad Pitt, might fit into the story.

The former Friends star, who celebrated her 49th birthday with buddies on Feb. 11, was married to the actor from 2000 to 2005. Pitt went on to couple up with Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie, while Aniston was romantically linked to a number of people, including Vince Vaughn and John Mayer, before connecting with Theroux in 2011. The couple dubbed “Brangelina” married in 2014 and split in September 2016 — parents to six children by then.

It has not escaped anyone’s attention that both Aniston, who crossed paths with Jolie at the Golden Globes in January, and Pitt are now single. Whether that means they’re ready to mingle and potentially reunite after more than a decade of dramatic divorce and “poor Jen” narratives remains to be seen.

Still, people will talk. …

It’s not the first time Twitter has wondered if the former couple might pull a Ross and Rachel and rekindle their romance. News of the 2016 Brangelina breakup was also met with speculation that these two lobsters might find their way back to the same tank. Since the split, the pair have reportedly reconnected as friends and keep in touch over text message.

Only time will tell if there’s something more brewing — but let’s give them a break. It’s been 13 years since they divorced, and Aniston has only been single for a couple of months. We’ve got to admit it, though: That stepmother gossip would be one heck of a plot twist.
