Jason Pierre-Paul seems pretty eager to face the Giants: 'I'm coming for their necks'

At this juncture, Jason Pierre-Paul is probably pretty happy he’s a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and not the New York Giants.

One is 5-2, the No. 1 team in the NFL according to DVOA and has a Hall of Famer at quarterback. the other is 1-6, ranked No. 29 in the same ratings and has Daniel Jones at quarterback.

The Buccaneers defensive end essentially confirmed as much while speaking with reporters on Friday, saying “You already know they made a mistake,” according to The Athletic’s Greg Auman. The Giants traded Pierre-Paul to the Bucs back in 2018 for a third-round pick that turned into defensive end B.J. Hill (7.5 career sacks) and a swap of fourth-rounders.

Now leading the Bucs with 5.5 sacks this year, Pierre-Paul made it pretty clear he’ll be relishing the chance to face his old team again. Specifically, he’s happy he’ll be going after Jones and not former teammate Eli Manning.

From The Athletic:

“I’m here now, happy to play Daniel Jones. Eli’s not there no more, so I won’t have to pick him up and say ‘Eli, man, you good?’ I’m coming for their necks, man. They know that. Jason Pierre-Paul ain’t going nowhere. I’m going to Monday Night Football and going to destroy the Giants. That’s what I want to do as an individual. But I still have love for them.”

This is only the second time Pierre-Paul will face the Giants as an opponent. The first came in the 2018 season, in which he posted seven tackles and 1.5 sacks in a 38-35 loss. The Buccaneers also faced the Giants last year, but Pierre-Paul missed the game due to a neck injury sustained in an offseason car accident.

Funny enough, it really did look like Pierre-Paul might have said “Eli, man, you good?” after sacking the quarterback in 2018:

The Buccaneers and Giants are scheduled to kick off Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET on the Yahoo Sports app.
