Jaimie Alexander circulates petition to bring back Chris Hardwick following sexual assault allegations

Jaimie Alexander is standing by Chris Hardwick. This week, the Blindspot star shared a Change.org petition to bring Hardwick back to television. The TV personality had his show Talking With Chris Hardwick yanked by AMC in the wake of sexual assault allegations.

Earlier this month, Hardwick’s ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra detailed emotional and physical abuse she allegedly endured during their three-year relationship. He has vehemently denied the claims, and his wife, Lydia Hearst, is standing by him. However, AMC suspended his show, Comic-Con canceled his panel-hosting appearances, and all mentions of him were scrubbed from the popular fan site he co-founded, Nerdist.

Alexander immediately faced backlash on Twitter after publicly expressing support for the host of The Wall. The Thor actress defended herself, saying she has known Hardwick for more than a decade.

People were still quick to criticize. “This has zero relevance to the facts at hand,” one user tweeted at her.

“Right? Because abusers are never nice to some people, and horrible to others. Right?” another read.

Another tweeted, “Almost like predatory behavior, or something I dunno. Support women.”

With sexual harassment allegations sweeping through Hollywood, Alexander recently spoke with Yahoo Entertainment about how she avoided falling victim.

“I’ve had plenty of meetings with studio executives in an enclosed space, where it’s just me and one other person or two people, and I’ve not had anybody ever make a pass at me,” Alexander revealed. “I don’t know if it’s my size. I don’t know if it’s something I give off. Or they know I have a fight background. I really don’t know, honestly. Because I’ve been in situations where it could have turned very bad very quickly, but I think from the get-go, as soon as I shake the person’s hand, I make them know that if you f*** with me, I’m going to f***you up. I’m not saying that’s a great behavior to have, but there’s something I put out there.”

She added, “I’ve had one situation where somebody tried to untie my top, and I turned around and my elbow went into their face — on accident. I’m not kidding — it was an accident. I busted their eye and they had to get stitches. When that happened, I think a lot of people in the industry found out about it, and that’s maybe why.”

Hardwick has spoken out against Dykstra’s allegations. “I was heartbroken to read Chloe’s post,” he said in a statement. “Our three year relationship was not perfect — we were ultimately not a good match and argued — even shouted at each other — but I loved her, and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her.”

It remains to be seen what other professional repercussions, if any, he might face.
