Islanders' playoff hopes could take a hit with John Tavares injury

New York Islanders centre John Tavares is week-to-week after suffering a lower-body injury on Friday night against the New Jersey Devils.

Tavares left in the third period, however the Islanders were able to hang on for a 2-1 win.

As of Saturday afternoon, the Islanders sit five points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the East's second wild-card spot.

New York is 4-5-1 in its last 10 games and will face the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.

Tavares has appeared in 77 games this season and leads the Islanders with 66 points.
