Invicta FC 15 Set for January, Cris Cyborg 140-Pound Bout Not Inked Yet

Cris Cyborg Cited for Battery, but Not Arrested

Initially shooting for a November date for Invicta FC 15, the all-women's fight promotion has pushed the event's date back to January in Southern California.

Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp, on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour, revealed that Invicta FC 15 would take place on Jan. 16, 2016, in Costa Mesa, Calif. The promotion is targeting a fight between featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Cindy Dandois at 140 pounds, but contracts have not yet been signed.

While Knapp is targeting Cyborg for the SoCal card, Cyborg appears to be getting a little frustrated by the constant shifting around when it comes to her next bout. She had been trying to get a fight at 140 pounds, so that she can take the next step towards eventually getting down to 135 pounds in order to fight in the UFC.

If the deal gets done, she'll be fighting Dandois on Jan. 16. Dandois is 6-2, with her most recent loss coming to current Invicta FC 135-pound champ Tonya Evinger. She most recently defeated Megan Anderson at Invicta FC 14, but also holds an MMA victory over Jorina Baars, who defeated Cyborg in a Lion Fights kickboxing match in 2014.

Cyborg (14-1, 1 NC) hasn't fought since July, when she took out Faith Van Duin just 45 seconds into their Invicta FC 13 title fight.

Bouts confirmed for the Invicta FC 15 fight card include Irene Aldana vs. Raquel Pa’aluhi and recently signed UFC vet Angela Hill vs. Jodie Esquibel.
