Inside the fascinating mind of a four-year-old hockey player

Everyone has to start somewhere.

Even the best hockey players on the planet were once small, adorable kids learning how to skate and push a puck around the ice. However, while watching little ones putter around, do you ever wonder what they’re thinking about?

Jeremy Rupke of Northern Ontario, known on YouTube as ‘Coach Jeremy’, went out with the hope to answer that question. Before a recent practice, he mic’d up his four-year-old son and followed his every move. As should have been expected, the results were pure gold.

During his son’s adventure at the rink, focus clearly appeared to be an issue. The youngster seemed to spend most of his time absentmindedly drifting around and, honestly, it was hilarious.

The declaration to want to go for a nap is likely one that most beer leaguers can relate to when it’s 11:00 PM on a weekday and you’re getting crushed in the third period.

Better than that, though, was when one of his coaches picked him up and brought him down the ice to his correct group.

“Woah,” he said as he was lifted. “You’re fast.”

The video was all in good fun until you realize what’s really going on.

Is this kid not aware that his parents have spent hundreds of dollars on his equipment and registration fees? That’s too much just to be lost during practice and not working on your development, young man.

Parents don’t put kids into a sport so they can get some exercise, make some friends and potentially fall in love with the activity.

No sir.

All of this is an investment. The quicker he improves and begins to get the attention of scouts, the better the chance he has of playing at a professional level and making that money back. So, pull yourself together, begin stickhandling and show the world what you’re capable of!

In all seriousness, though, this is some great, lighthearted fun.

Here’s the full version of his son’s adventure. I highly recommend it.
