In China, some think the Buffalo Bills won Stanley Cup

The Buffalo Bills’ chase for a Super Bowl championship continues, but if it’s any consolation, some folks in China think the Bills won the most famous trophy in sports: The Stanley Cup.

Matthew Coller, a producer at WGR 550 in Buffalo, posted a picture of the funniest banner you’ll see:

What? Why? Huh?

There’s so much that makes it funny. Like, the Bills’ football helmets on a hockey banner. There isn’t an obvious mix-up because of the city involved, like if someone produced a Pittsburgh Steelers Stanley Cup banner after the Penguins won. The Buffalo Sabres have never won the Stanley Cup and haven’t even been in the Stanley Cup Finals since 1999 (yeah, it has been a rough run for the Buffalo fans). It’s not even like there’s some Los Angeles Kings/Sacramento Kings mix-up. It’s just random.

Somehow, someone made a banner that proclaimed the Buffalo Bills the champions of the National Hockey League. It really might not make Bills fans feel better about the Super Bowl drought, but it’s still pretty hilarious.
