Hurricanes sing 'Happy Birthday' to Rod Brind'Amour's dad after series win

The Carolina Hurricanes serenaded their coach's dad with a hearty rendition of

Thursday night was a great time to be a fan of the Carolina Hurricanes, but one superfan in particular had an extra-special evening.

In Game 6 of the team’s series against the Nashville Predators, the squad found a way to win in overtime despite trailing late in the third period. Sebastian Aho scored early in the extra frame to clinch the series, winning the game 4-3, and advancing Carolina to Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Head coach Rod Brind’Amour addressed the players following the win, but while doing so, he made a phone call to his parents as it was his father’s birthday. After letting the players know how much the Canes mean to his father, the team broke out into an impromptu “Happy Birthday” serenade.

There’s no question that the Hurricanes are better hockey players than singers, but it was a very special and sentimental moment for all involved.

The Hurricanes have a big task ahead of them as they face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Round 2 of the postseason, and by the sound of it, you can count on papa Brind’Amour following the matchup closely.
