It may be only the first day of the Division I – Group A IIHF World Championship in Ukraine, but we may have already had our goal of the tournament.

As host Ukraine played with a 1-0 lead, Hungary captain Istvan Bartalis answered 57 seconds after the opening goal in beautiful fashion.

The 26-year-old Bartalis gets tripped up after entering the zone, but his fall takes him to right in front of the net where he’s able to collect the puck and go with the in-close between-the-legs move on Ukraine netminder Eduard Zakharchenko.

Judging by Zakharchenko’s reaction, safe to say he wasn’t expecting that. But if you’re Bartalis, despite having no angle you might as well give it a try.

Hungary would go on to take the win 5-3.
