Houston Dynamo forward Calen Carr suffers ACL tear

Houston Dynamo forward Calen Carr suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the MLS Cup final against the LA Galaxy on Saturday, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old scored the game’s opening goal in the 44th minute, but a collision in the 57th minute with Omar Gonzalez resulted in the ligament tear and ended his day. The Galaxy came back to score twice en route to a 2-1 win and a second straight MLS title.

Carr will undergo several weeks of prehabilitation prior to having surgery. Following the surgery, a time table for his return to the field will be established.

The forward scored four goals and added two assists in 26 regular-season appearances with the Dynamo in 2012. The injury is another unlucky blow for Carr, who tore the same ACL in 2008 and battled concussion issues in 2011.
