Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson has teased a “heartbreaking” twist on the wedding day of James Nightingale and Ste Hay.
The actress, who plays Donna-Marie Quinn on the Channel 4 soap, will see her character and the whole village congregate for the big day, but she hinted that it won’t be plain sailing for the couple.

“The wedding day is chaos [for] those two - it doesn’t end how we’d like I’m afraid to say,” she said. “If I had three words to describe the day, they would be: ‘chaos, love, heartbreaking’.
“We filmed in Chester for the wedding! And it was amazing, the sun was shining - we were all dressed up and had the best day,” she added. “Steve Brett, the director, is just amazing so we couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
The day will come at a good time for Donna-Marie, who has been in a dark place following her recent relapse, and Hudson revealed that her character was motivated to be the best mother for her children.

“Donna-Marie has really struggled, I’m hoping she’s on the straight and narrow now,” she said. “She wants to stay strong for her kids, and she tries to create new happy memories for Juliet to make up for how many years she messed up as a mother. Donna-Marie wants to be the mum her daughter always wished for.”
Hudson isn’t the only Hollyoaks cast member to speak about the wedding ceremony, with Gregory Finnegan recently discussing the future for his character and Ste.
“I think it probably will change how they operate. It has to, doesn’t it? There’s a lot more responsibility on James' shoulders now with Leah and Lucas to look after too,” he said. "Nothing is ever simple, and you can be sure of plenty more surprises. This is Hollyoaks after all.”
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
