Hockey Night in Canada returns with 60th season

CBC's Hockey Night in Canada is ready for its 60th season beginning Saturday, Jan. 19 with 49 games on the schedule.

HNIC kicks off the season with a triple-header involving five Canadian teams.

The Ottawa Senators visit the Winnipeg Jets (3 p.m. ET), The Toronto Maple Leafs travel to Montreal to face the Canadiens (7 p.m. ET), while the Vancouver Canucks host the Anaheim Ducks (10 p.m. ET)

"Canadians have missed their game, and we've missed bringing it to them. We look forward to the return of the teams and the players, and CBC will be there as they drop the puck," said Kirstine Stewart, CBC's Executive Vice President, English Services.

CBC will also broadcast moments from the official Stanley Cup banner raising in Los Angeles in simultaneous live coverage starting at 3 p.m. ET.

Eighteen all-Canadian match-ups are part of the schedule, with three featuring a full day of coverage on Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada on Feb. 9.

The schedule also includes 10 Original Six pairings and rivalry games featuring Toronto/Montreal, Edmonton/Calgary, Ottawa/Toronto, and Montreal/Boston.

“We’re thrilled to be able to share the tradition of Hockey Night in Canada with the nation once again this year,” said Jeffrey Orridge, CBC's Executive Director, Sports Properties.

Hockey Night in Canada Punjabi presented by Chevrolet is also back every Saturday.

Don Cherry and Ron Maclean will travel to Peterborough, Ont., for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, where all all seven Canadian teams will be featured.

Lloydminster, Alta./Sask., will host the five-day celebration in 2014.

"This will be Hockey Night in Canada’s 60th season and we can’t wait to celebrate with our viewers in interactive and engaging ways," said Julie Bristow, executive director, Studio and Unscripted Programming, English Services.
