A new spin-off series called How I Met Your Father is in the works, set to be executive produced by HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and to star Hilary Duff. This Is Us showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger will write and executive produce the 10-episode series.

As of yet, it’s unclear exactly how the original series will factor into the plot of the spinoff, if at all. It’s taken many years to get a HIMYM spinoff made, with several false starts in the form of similarly named properties in 2016 and 2017, one of which was developed from a pilot by Aptaker and Berger.
