My 70-year-old mom says makeup seems to work against her. Foundation, though designed to smooth imperfections, instead settles into her fine lines, exacerbating wrinkles and highlighting exactly what she’d intended to conceal. The settling, caking nature of many formulas paves a notoriously cumbersome path to finding the perfect foundation for mature skin. A shortcut: L’Oréal’s Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation, which has ended the search for thousands of shoppers.

The L’Oréal Age Perfect Serum Foundation, which comes in 30 shades, is suitable for all skin types — though its skincare-infused, light-to-medium coverage  is specifically created for mature skin. Unlike many foundations, it resists settling into fine lines and wrinkles, and instead, glides over skin to deliver a smooth, even finish. It’s non-comedogenic, skin-soothing, and decidedly non-drying with an infusion of the brand’s hydrating serum, which quenches skin and mitigates midday cakiness thanks to vitamin B3, AKA niacinamide, while SPF 50 protects against skin-aging UV rays. The formula features a universally flattering finish that’s radiant, luminous, and skinlike.

From the same collection as the wrinkle-blurring primer shoppers swear make them look “Photoshopped,” this foundation similarly has a skin-perfecting effect. In addition to gliding over lines and wrinkles, it blurs the appearance of imperfections (like age spots) without appearing overly heavy. With its light, breathable feel and radiant finish — sans sparkles or shimmer — it creates a truly natural, your-skin-but-better look. Case in point: Helen Mirren at the 2021 SAG awards, where she donned the L’Oréal foundation as the base for her makeup look.

One 64-year-old shopper calls the foundation “fantastic,” adding that “it covers and brightens [their] skin wonderfully.” Another reviewer says they’d choose L’Oréal’s over “a more expensive brand” of foundation made for mature skin they’d previously used. Similarly, another shopper in their 60s, who spent “a fortune” on pricier foundations prior to trying L’Oréal’s, is “so impressed” with the product, adding, “This helps me look younger and vibrant.” Yet another shopper in their 60s confirms, “It does not settle into wrinkles” and “applies like a dream.”

Shop the L’Oréal Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation, which is made to work with, and not against, mature skin. I’m excited to tell my mom about this one.
