Heavyweight boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko and family rescued at sea after yacht fire
Wladimir Klitschko has learned first hand to be careful what he wishes for. The boxing legend tweeted on Tuesday that he was looking for a bit more adrenaline in his life, and ended up with an on-fire yacht and a maritime rescue.
Be careful what you wish for: fate took my wish for “some #adrenalin” a bit too literally and our boat-trip Sunday night ended up in our boat #igniting and family & friends being evacuated by coast guard and fire rescue-team. No worries: we are all fine! #theroofisonfire #song😱 pic.twitter.com/sGN7xfG5JM

The video Klitschko tweeted doesn’t include any footage of the yacht actually on fire, but shows the local fire department spraying various areas of the vessel with foam.
According to CNN, the yacht was off the coast of Mallorca, Spain early Monday morning when it caught fire and the yacht’s crew radioed for urgent assistance. The crew managed to put out the fire, but the firefighters made sure it would stay out by spraying foam. The location of the fire wasn’t revealed, but since there was smoke coming up from the engine room, the decision was made to tow the yacht to shore instead of firing up the engine.
Klitschko was on board with his family and several friends, but everyone made it off the craft safely, and no one needed medical attention. Klitschko, who retired in 2017 after a 21 year career and 64 wins in 69 fights, seems to have kept his sense of humor about the incident. At the end of his tweet, he used the hashtags “#theroofisonfire” and “#song.” Hopefully that song wasn’t actually playing while the yacht was on fire.
