Yahoo Sports After Headbutt Ruined First Fight, Rani Yahya and Johnny Bedford Rematch Booked for San Antonio
A rematch between Rani Yahya and Johnny Bedford has been scheduled for the UFC Fight Night event slated for June 28 in San Antonio, Texas.
UFC officials announced the bout on Monday.
Yahya and Bedford first fought at the recent UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Nelson in Abu Dhabi. It ended rather abruptly, however, leaving a sour taste in both men’s mouths.
Just 39 seconds into the fight, Yahya went crashing to the mat, Bedford on top of him dropping right hands. Most people initially thought Bedford had just won the fight, but the instant replay showed that Yahya went down from an accidental clash of heads.
Since Yahya was unable to continue, the fight was ruled a no contest.
Both men coming off of losses heading into their Abu Dhabi bout, they’re both chomping at the bit to get back in the cage and determine a winner in San Antonio.
