Halsey, 26, shares bikini video on Instagram: 'Making peace with myself, or something'

Halsey is spending her downtime on a boat trip featuring sunshine, social media and, most important of all, mental health.

On Thursday, the singer shared a video of herself striking poses for the camera from the bow of a boat wearing a rainbow-striped bikini, showing off her tattoos, makeup-free face and long braids. “Making peace with myself, or something,” she captioned the post.

Halsey actually recently shared that she’s a “big-time” introvert and feels safe when she’s alone so this statement is fitting. “I used to score as an extrovert but I think years of forced exposure took its toll on me,” she shared, adding that, like so many people throughout the pandemic, she’s been spending even more time by herself than usual. “This time in the world has forced a distance between myself and people I used to lean on,” she shared. “Whether it’s physical separation or the abrupt blow of moral differences, I feel my surroundings shrinking. I know it is for good reason. But it hurts sometimes.”

The 26-year-old has always been open about her mental health struggles. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder as a teenager and spent several weeks in a psychiatric hospital while in high school. During a recent conversation with a psychologist shared on her YouTube page for Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Halsey shared her mental health mantra. “Achieving mental health doesn't happen. Mental health isn't a destination. You never arrive at mental healthy and go, 'OK, I'm glad I got here.'"
