Hailey Bieber Says She’s ‘Scared’ to Have Children With Justin Bieber Because of Online Hate

Although Justin and Hailey Bieber have both expressed their desire to have children together, there's something holding the Rhode Skin founder back.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the 26-year-old model got candid about one reason she's afraid to expand their family. “I literally cry about this all the time,” she said, per People. “I want kids so bad but I get scared. It's enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can't imagine having to confront people saying things about a child.”

Bieber continued, “We can only do the best we can to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe.”

Though Hailey Bieber is no stranger to online hate, things got particularly volatile in March, when the model was accused of making fun of Selena Gomez during a FaceTime with Kylie Jenner. The backlash went on for weeks until Gomez asked her fans to back off after hearing that Bieber was receiving death threats. “This isn't what I stand for,” Gomez wrote on Instagram Stories at the time. “No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

Though the women are now Instagram mutuals, plenty of people are still leaving nasty comments on the model's social media posts. In April, Bieber described that period of time as “some of the saddest, hardest moments” of her adult life. “I like to make jokes about how I feel because sometimes it’s easier than admitting I’m having a hard time,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “My mind and emotions have been fragile to say the least.”

During her interview with The Sunday Times, Bieber specifically referenced the response to her mini stroke in March 2022. “The day after I was hospitalized, it was on the internet,” she said, per People. “I wanted to talk about what happened in my own words because so many people were making assumptions.”

She continued, “If you let things like that silence you, you're allowing people to dictate how you live your life. Sometimes I do just want to curl up and be a hermit, like, 'If this is how people feel, maybe I should just stay home.' But I'm really not that kind of person.”
