Grizzlies narrow front-office search

The Memphis Grizzlies have narrowed candidates for a front-office job that could lead to becoming the franchise's future general manager, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Indiana Pacers vice president of basketball operations Peter Dinwiddie and former New York and Toronto GM Glen Grunwald have advanced to the final stages of the search and will meet with Memphis owner Robert Pera soon, league sources said.

Iowa Energy GM Chris Makris is well-regarded within the Grizzlies organization and expected to also meet with the owner. The D-League franchise is affiliated with the Grizzlies.

Another top candidate for the job, Brooklyn Nets assistant GM Bobby Marks, recently removed his name from consideration, sources said.

The Grizzlies want to hire a candidate to initially work under GM Chris Wallace, sources said. Nevertheless, this hiring could ultimately take a higher-profile decision-making role in the organization.

Memphis fired CEO Jason Levien and assistant GM Stu Lash in a sweep of the front office in June.
