Gossip: Manchester City target Ruben Neves 'valued at £110m', Chris Smalling 'to pen new Manchester United deal' and more

Wolves. Cardiff. Fulham.

The Premier League’s three promoted clubs have certainly mixed things up. While the west Londoners have splashed the cash, Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds have been putting up a gritty fight – a 5-0 drubbing by Manchester City aside.

Both could survive, both could be relegated.

Wolves, though, led by Nuno Espirito Santo (who is trying to rebrand those NES initials) look like they have been (and indeed will be) here for some time.

The man pivotal to that is Jorge Mendes Ruben Neves. The Portuguese star lit up the Championship last season and is doing so with careless ease once more.

Neves, just 21, was signed for €16million by the Midlands club last July and propelled them to title-winning glory.

And it seems the Premier League elite are convinced he could do a job for them. Unfortunately for the likes of Manchester City, it appears his value has also sky-rocketed to £110m. That is, at least, according to the Times.

Santo’s men hold all the cards after Neves agreed a new five-year deal just a couple of months ago, and that means they can command an outrageous fee which would make him the Premier League’s record signing.

City are no strangers to splashing the cash, but would they do it for Neves? Who are we kidding, of course they would.

Smalling to ‘sign new deal’

And on to City’s red rivals, led by Jose Mourinho.

Fresh off the back of a draw with Wolves themselves, Manchester United are apparently keen to extend Chris Smalling’s deal.

The England defender, 28, has less than one year left on his deal and the Red Devils are looking to keep him on.

This, obviously, comes as a result of Mourinho being delighted by his team’s defensive approach and is certainly not disillusioned over a lack of defensive recruits.

Beckham and Zidane ‘reunited’?

Meanwhile, the Mirror are reporting that David Beckham has approached former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to manage his upcoming MLS franchise.

The duo have held ‘preliminary talks’ over the Inter Miami role. What a coup for the MLS that could prove to be.

Elsewhere, Sergio Busquets could be set for a new deal at Barcelona, Mario Goetze has been told to join Liverpool (he has no say in the matter) and the latest entry for biggest footballism ever includes Eden Hazard saying he feels ‘200% fit’.
