Matt Addison believes if Liverpool can win two of their next three games, it "would be a statement" that shows they are capable of winning the Premier League title this season.

Speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside, Addison from Liverpool.com spoke about Liverpool's upcoming run and said: "I'm excited - it's going to be interesting to see if Liverpool can control games the way that they have, or whether that was to do with the lesser opposition, or whether it's a new style.

"Chelsea at the weekend will be an acid test to see where Liverpool are up to, if Liverpool can win and win by a couple of goals then maybe the conversation around a title push may be one the rest of the country will be thinking about.

"The only thing that stops it up to this point is they've not beaten some of the big teams - but they've not had to play them yet."

Addison believes there are reasons to be optimistic about the upcoming fixtures, adding: "Even though it's a tough fixture list, on a case-by-case one-off basis, there's not many of those games you think Liverpool can't win or won't have a really good chance of coming out on top in - I'm excited, I'm intrigued, I don't think there's any reason to be scared.

"There's a good chance we might know [their chances of success] by the end of next week. If they can maybe win two of the three - I think that would be a statement."
