The Vegas Golden Knights will sign forward William Karlsson to an eight-year contract extension, TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the club, but Karlsson is reportedly inking a deal worth an average annual value of just under $6 million, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Karlsson recorded 24 goals and 56 points during the 2018-19 season and remains one of the key components of the Golden Knights’ offense. The 26-year-old underwent a breakout campaign in 2017-18 where he notched 43 goals, leading Vegas to the Stanley Cup Final in its inaugural season.

Prior to the extension, Karlsson was slated to become a restricted free agent.
