Girona defender reveals admiration for Real Madrid veteran – ‘He could have won the Ballon d’Or’

Arnau Martinez, one of Girona’s captains, has expressed his admiration for Real Madrid veteran Dani Carvajal, considering him an inspiration despite his own background in Barcelona’s youth system.

Martinez, though, suggested that Carvajal would have been a worthy recipient of the prestigious award, pointing out the veteran’s consistent performances and contributions to his team.

“He could have won the Ballon d’Or, they could have given it to him perfectly. I think he deserves it,” he added.

As for Martinez himself, he has become a vital player for Girona under manager Michel. Known for his versatility, Martinez can operate as a full-back, centre-back, or even in midfield, showcasing his tactical intelligence and physical attributes.

When Girona take on Real Madrid tomorrow, the defender will be one of the key players to watch. His role in this match will likely see him tasked with facing one of the world’s best attackers; Kylian Mbappe.
