Giannuzzi makes 19 saves in Winterhawks' 2-0 victory over Thunderbirds

PORTLAND, Ore. — Dante Giannuzzi made 19 saves for the shutout in the Portland Winterhawks' 2-0 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday.

Marcus Nguyen opened the scoring on a penalty shot midway through the third period. James Stefan iced the win with a power-play goal with 47 seconds left.

Thomas Milic made 36 saves for the visiting Thunderbirds.

In other Western Hockey League games, the Moose Jaw Warriors topped the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 in overtime, the Kamloops Blazers beat the Prince George Cougars 4-3 in a shootout and the Spokane Chiefs dumped the Tri-City Americans 7-3.
