The start of Saturday afternoon’s Georgia Tech vs. Syracuse game was delayed to confirm several COVID-19 test results.
Syracuse said the delay was “out of an abundance of caution.”
Later, the school said it “reconfirmed the tests of three members” of the Syracuse football program. All tests came back negative after initially reading as “inconclusive.”
“Syracuse University, in partnership with the ACC, has established strict testing protocols to ensure the health and safety of all of our student-athletes around the conference,” the school said in a statement.
The game, originally slated to begin around noon, kicked off around 12:35 p.m. ET.
Per ACC protocols, Syracuse players are tested three times per week.
