Three-star Georgia signee D’Antne Demery was arrested Saturday in Athens following Georgia’s spring game after he allegedly struck his girlfriend following an argument.

The incident was reported at approximately 9:15 p.m. to police as a man choking a woman. Demery’s girlfriend and mother of their one-month-old child then allegedly called police and said she wanted to press charges.

Here’s what she told police when they made in-person contact with her. From the Athens Banner-Herald:

Police contacted the victim in front of Boars Head, a downtown bar. According to the victim, she and Demery got into an argument and he “began to get loud,” and she started to walk off. He told her, “walk off again, and Imma show you,” according to information provided by the police spokesperson.

As she began to walk away again, Demery came from behind her, grabbed her on the back of her neck, pushed her against the wall and also grabbed her by the hair. Friends eventually separated them.

Demery eventually was able to “reconnect with the victim, in which he threw her; causing her glasses to fall off, her phone fell out of her hand, causing it to hit the ground which resulted in a crack to the screen,” according to police.

The two were in Athens to attend the spring game and Demery was booked shortly before 11 p.m. into the Athens-Clarke County jail. According to the jail’s website, Demery was still incarcerated as of Sunday morning and was charged with simple battery and criminal trespass. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Demery, an offensive lineman and native of Brunswick, Georgia, was rated the No. 35 offensive tackle in the country according to Rivals and the No. 34 prospect in the state of Georgia.
