The news, which was revealed by Genesis on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast Show, comes as the prog rock outfit were last on the road together 13 years ago in 2007 for their Turn It On Again tour.

The new tour entitled The Last Domino? will see the Collins' son Nicholas join the rockers on drums.

While Collins has typically provided drums and vocals, he is said to be unable to play due to a nerve problem.

In 2018 he said he would only return to the band if Nicholas could be brought in as a drummer, telling Rolling Stone magazine: "I can’t imagine what it would be like if I didn’t play the drums, but anything is possible.”

“I’m saying this to you … I haven’t really said it to Tony and Mike,” he added. “I did mention to Tony very quietly if we did anything again it would be with Nic on drums. He kind of didn’t say no. But I’m not sure if he heard me or not.”

The trio, who are all 69-years-old, will also be joined by long-standing associate Daryl Stuermer on guitar and bass while founding member Peter Gabriel won't be participating.
