Game off! Vancouver's Trout Lake closed for skating

With temperatures in Vancouver quickly changing from frigid to mild the Vancouver Park Board has decided to close Trout Lake for skating.

A park board official told CBC News although the ice is currently thick enough for skating, conditions could change quickly.

Environment Canada says heavy rain and temperatures as high as 10 C are expected over the next few days.

Thousands of Vancouverites have been on the lake, enjoying the rare experience of skating outdoors on natural ice.

Trout Lake was last open for skating in 1996.

The park board says people should stay off all outdoor ice in the city.
