With more than four decades in Hollywood, no one can deny that John Stamos' most famous role was Jesse Katsopolis in Full House. While he talked over the years about forming a bond with all of his cast mates, fans would be surprised to hear that he tried to get Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen fired for an unexpected reason.

Back in January 2015, the TV movie The Unauthorized Full House Story premiered on Lifetime and it depicted what it may have been like behind-the-scenes. At one point in the film, viewers saw John Stamos (played by Justin Gaston) convince producers to fire the twins because he couldn't see them as a good fit for the role of Michelle Tanner.

While it sounds impossible due to the Grandfathered star often reminiscing of his time with Mary-Kate and Ashley, he admitted that the moment actually occurred in real-life.

"It’s sort of true that the Olsen twins cried a lot," he explained at the time, per a report from Entertainment Weekly. "It was very difficult to get the shot. So I [gestured], ‘Get them out … !' That is actually 100% accurate."

As folks know, Mary-Kate and Ashley were not only in the original cast, but the duo portrayed Michelle throughout Full House's eight-season run. So, how did John feel about this turn of events? As he later clarified, they turned out to be perfect after the network tried replacing them with different sets of twins.

"[The producers] brought in a couple of ... redheaded kids," he told the outlet. "We tried that for a while and that didn’t work. [Producers] were like, all right, get the Olsen twins back. And that’s the story."

Luckily, the two did eventually make the cut and contributed to the success of Full House. What's more, after the show wrapped up, John seemingly has had a good relationship with Mary-Kate and Ashley, according to the throwback photos on Instagram.

As for their friendship today, he had nothing but lovely things to say about them after reconnecting amid Bob Saget's untimely death in January 2022.

"[The Full House cast] really hadn't been in touch with the Olsen twins, which I hadn't seen in many years," he said during an Instagram live in June 2022. "They came, and they were loving and so kind. [They] clearly missed us, we clearly missed them."
