FTC Investigation into UFC Business Practices Concludes with No Further Action

The United States Federal Trade Commission's second investigation into the business practices of the UFC has come to an end. The FTC determined that it would not take any further action against the UFC at this time.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

“In a letter to Zuffa LLC's legal counsel addressed Nov. 20, the FTC's Northwest Regional Office attorney Stuart Hirschfeld wrote the nonpublic investigation by the FTC's Bureau of Competition to determine whether Zuffa or any of its partners are engaging in conduct that violates Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act through the use of long-term exclusive contracts or other exclusionary conduct has been closed.

“Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act addresses unfair or deceptive business practices.”

The FTC's investigation is not to be confused with the class-action lawsuit against the UFC that was brought on by fighters such Jon Fitch, Cung Le, and Nate Quarry. That lawsuit is currently still in motion.
