Following UFC 193, Dana White Says Women Are Tougher Than Men

Valerie Letourneau Announces Next Fight and Retirement Plans

Strawweight contender Valerie Letourneau was medically suspended for 180 days following her UFC 193 loss to champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk on Nov. 15. The 32-year-old Canadian must have a CT scan cleared by a doctor before returning.

Letourneau was transported to a hospital for observation following the fight. Her left eye was badly swollen.

“It was the craziest thing I've ever seen,” said UFC president Dana White, when talking about Letourneau's eye during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “Her eye was massive.”

Jedrzejczyk punished Letourneau with leg kicks on her way to a unanimous decision win, and the damage was easy to see.

“I've never seen anything like that,” said White. “She's banged up right now.”

Letourneau wasn't the only fighter that was transported to the hospital following UFC 193. Former champion Ronda Rousey suffered a laceration to her lip during her knockout loss to Holly Holm and required stitches. Jedrzejczyk suffered a broken hand in her second title defense and will need surgery.

After witnessing the ladies in the hospital, White is convinced that women are tougher than men.

“The women are tougher than the men,” he said. “Women, women have (expletive) babies.. They’re way tougher than us.”
