NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently reported that the Sabres are getting calls regarding Cozens and that he is "legitimately wanted."
With the Philadelphia Flyers desperately needing another top-six center, Cozens is a player they should consider making a serious push for.
At 23 years old, Cozens is at the perfect age to join a team on the rise like the Flyers. In addition, his contract should be appealing to a rebuilding team like the Flyers, as he is locked up until the end of the 2029-30 season. Thus, he would be far more than a rental and could become a long-term part of their core if acquired.
When looking at a possible fit in the Flyers' lineup, Cozens could work marvelously on their top line with Joel Farabee and Travis Konecny. However, if acquired, he also would be an option to replace Morgan Frost on the second line with Owen Tippett and Matvei Michkov.
Cozens has had a bit of a down year with the Sabres thus far, posting six goals and 13 points in 30 games. However, he showed in 2022-23 that he can produce like a legitimate star, as he set career highs with 31 goals, 37 assists, and 68 points in 81 games.
Nevertheless, with the Flyers needing help down the middle, Cozens stands out as a prime potential target.
