Antonio Callaway will play for Florida in Week 1.

Gators coach Jim McElwain said that Callaway, the team’s top wide receiver, has been cleared to play Saturday against UMass. McElwain said Callaway “should be good to go” at his Monday press conference.

Callaway was suspended from school in January after being accused of sexual assault, causing him to miss spring practice and be banned from campus for the spring semester. The arbiter overseeing an August Title IX hearing against Callaway said the receiver was not responsible for “conduct causing physical injury, sexual assault and sexual misconduct.” Callaway also admitted to being under the influence of marijuana during the alleged incident.

Callaway, who had 35 catches for 678 yards and four touchdowns in 2015 as a true freshman, returned to campus for the second summer session and participated in preseason camp. He also made an impact as a returner, including his 85-yard punt return touchdown against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

In other Florida news, McElwain announced that freshmen Tyrie Cleveland and Rick Wells are suspended following their July arrest for allegedly shooting BB guns in their dorm room, causing more than $1,000 in damage to their housing complex. The state has yet to decide if the two will formally be brought up on charges.

McElwain also said another player, a senior he did not name, will be suspended for the game, too. Robbie Andreu of The Gainesville Sun is reporting that the player is wideout Chris Thompson, who was not listed on a depth chart distributed Monday. Thompson has nine catches for 78 yards in three seasons.

That makes five players suspended for the game, joining Jalen Tabor and C’yontai Lewis, who were disciplined for fighting during practice. The two also missed a week of preseason camp, but returned to practice late last week.
