The Florida Panthers will play host for the 2021 NHL All-Star Weekend, according to George Richards of The Athletic.

This will be the second time the Panthers will have the event at their building and the fourth time it will be in Florida. The Panthers previously held the 2003 festivities, while the Tampa Bay Lightning were given the 1999 and 2018 All-Star games.

The NHL was reportedly considering Las Vegas and Arizona as other options, but the players appear to be glad they chose the BB&T Center to hold the event.

“An All-Star Game on the beach? That is awesome,” Panthers centre Vincent Trocheck said. “With the sun and our weather, it is a vacation destination already.

“This would be huge for our city, our organization and for our fans. They would love it. They make the game so much fun for everyone even if you can’t get to the game. They’ll turn downtown into a hockey town.”

Even if 2021 was originally considered as a year to hold another World Cup of Hockey, the All-Star Weekend in sunny South Florida is not a bad option for the other stars of the league.
