Five things to know about the 2016 MLB postseason schedule

Want to know the exact dates the Chicago Cubs will win the 2016 World Series? Don’t worry, Major League Baseball has you covered. The league released its 2016 postseason schedule Monday, giving fans ample amount of time to make plans for October.

So, set the date for your wild card party, consider RSVPing “no” to that wedding in late October and start ordering the blue and red confetti now. Here are the official dates of each MLB postseason series:

Now that you have the particulars, here are five things to take away from that schedule:

1. THE POSTSEASON OFFICIALLY BEGINS OCT. 4
OK, here’s an obvious, but essential, one to kick things off. The American League wild card game takes place Tuesday Oct. 4. That’s just two days after the end of the regular season. Baseball will have one off day between the regular season and the postseason, so use that day to rest up before the action begins.

2. TAKE OFF WORK OCT. 7
The most dedicated baseball fans will want to put in a request for time off on Oct. 7. All four of the Division Series games will take place on that day. MLB pulled this off last Oct. 9, and it was one heck of an event. Does anyone else remember the Kansas City Royals’ clutch comeback against the Houston Astros to stave off elimination? That occurred last Oct. 9. If you don’t want to miss out on the action, submit your request for time off now!

3. NO BASEBALL ON HALLOWEEN
We suppose this is both good and bad. You won’t be able to watch the Cubs dominate in the World Series while wearing your knock-off Clark the Cubs costume, but you will be able to spend Halloween with your family. For troll points, consider dressing up as a zombie player from the team the Cubs eliminated most recently. Zombie Bryce Harper seems like a safe choice.

4. NOVEMBER REIGN?
Just like last season, it’s possible baseball will extend into November. The World Series would have to go to Game 6 or Game 7 for that to happen, but it’s within the realm of possibilities. Cubs fans have waited long enough for a World Series title. Playing games in November will only add to the excitement and celebration.

5. BOOK YOUR TICKETS TO CHICAGO AROUND OCT. 28
Look, if you want to be in town when the Chicago Cubs break the curse and win the World Series, you ought to book the tickets now. Game 3 of the World Series will take place in the NL city (probably Chicago) Oct. 28. The Cubs can clinch the World Series with a sweep the following day, but also have a shot to win it all Sunday Oct. 30. If you want to be around for one of the biggest celebration ever, that’s the weekend to shoot for.
