Fiorentina provide update on Bove: ‘Diagnostic tests are ongoing’
Fiorentina have released an official statement providing an update on the condition of midfielder Edoardo Bove, who worryingly collapsed off the ball in the 17th minute of La Viola’s Serie A match against Empoli on Sunday evening.
The club have confirmed that Bove is ‘awake, alert and oriented’ after an ‘uneventful’ night at the local Careggi hospital, where he was taken directly from the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday evening.
Fiorentina have also confirmed that the 22-year-old has been speaking with doctors, family and colleagues throughout the morning.
Reports elsewhere confirm that teammates David De Gea, Lucas Beltran, Danilo Cataldi Lucas Martinez Quarta and Andrea Colpani are among the squad members who have already paid Bove a visit, as well as Raffaele Palladino, club directors Alessandro Ferrari and Daniele Prade and FIGC President Gabriele Gravina.
Fiorentina’s latest update on Bove
“ACF Fiorentina has announced that Edoardo Bove, following an uneventful night, was awakened and extubated this morning. He is currently awake, alert and oriented,” a statement on the club’s social media profiles read.
“He has spoken with his family, club management, the coach and his team-mates, who all rushed to go and see him as soon as they heard the good news. Further tests will be carried out in the coming days to establish what led to the critical situation that took place yesterday.
“The doctors at Careggi University Hospital who are treating the player have confirmed that diagnostic tests are ongoing.
“Fiorentina would like to thank Careggi University Hospital and all of the doctors and staff for the wonderful humanity and professionalism they have shown.
“The club would also like to thank the wider Fiorentina family and the entire world of football who, during this difficult time, have shown great sympathy and care through their messages and support, which have been of great comfort to both to the club and Edoardo and his family.”
