We saw some great games at the FBS level, but the best ending of the weekend came from the Pioneer Football League.

We’re taking you to Buies Creek, North Carolina, where Campbell University hosted Stetson University on Saturday evening. With the game tied 24-24 in overtime, Campbell lined up for a 30-yard field goal to take the lead in the extra frame’s first possession, but the kick was blocked.

You have to watch what happens next:

Senior defensive back Donald Payne broke through the line to block the kick and linebacker Jeb Boudreaux emerged from the crowd with the loose ball. Boudreaux took off nearly the length of the field before being tackled by a Campbell defender.

But as Boudreaux was being brought to the turf inside the five-yard line, he had the presence of mind to pitch the ball back to Payne, who had trailed his teammate for the duration of the play. From there, Payne waltzed the final few steps into the endzone for the game-winning score.

The dramatic victory improved Stetson’s record to 4-3 on the year. Campbell dropped to 3-3 in heartbreaking fashion.
