Fantasy Takeaways, Week 13: Another week, another zillion rushing yards against the Niners

1. Nope, the Niners still can’t stop the run.

San Francisco entered the week ranked dead-last in the NFL at defending the run, allowing a whopping 171.8 rushing yards per game. That’s just a ridiculous number. It’s the highest yards-against number the league has seen since the Lions allowed 172.1 back in ’08, the year they went 0-16.

On Sunday, Jordan Howard took full advantage of the Niners’ hilariously inept defense, rushing for 117 yards and three scores. He became the ninth back to top triple-digit rushing yards against the San Fran defense this year and the eleventh to reach 100 scrimmage yards. As a public service to the DFS community, here’s the rest-of-season schedule for the Niners:

Week 14, vs. NYJ
Week 15, at ATL
Week 16, at LA
Week 17, vs. Sea

Todd Gurley has been a spectacular disappointment this season — he’s one of the few backs who delivered a dud against San Francisco — but even he gets the green light against this D in championship week.

2. Kenny Britt is a damn hero.

Britt has spent his season lunging at errant throws from Case Keenum and Jared Goff, which is about as bad as it gets in the modern NFL. But somehow, Britt remains on pace for 1140 yards and seven touchdowns — insane totals, considering his team context. L.A. ranks last in the NFL in scoring (15.5 PPG) and last in yardage (295.1 YPG). Britt caught two balls for 67 yards and a spike in Week 13 at New England; it wasn’t the first time this season that he’s scored the team’s only touchdown. With matchups remaining against Atlanta and San Francisco, Britt remains fantasy relevant, incredibly enough. Here’s hoping he gets paid in the offseason, because this year has been absolutely heroic.

3. The Kenneth Dixon takeover has been delayed yet another week.

Fantasy experts keep predicting it (myself included), and it just keeps not happening. Dixon had a nice enough day against Miami in Week 13, gaining 71 yards on 10 touches. But Terrance West was again the better choice for fantasy purposes, as he’s been for most of the season. West ran 10 times for 50 yards and one TD, adding three receptions for 18 yards and another score. West may not be the league’s most electric runner, but, well … we can’t wish him away. He’s still unowned in 26 percent of Yahoo leagues, and he gets all the TDs in this backfield.
