Fantasy Premier League returns this weekend with a Friday evening deadline and two teams handed a double gameweek.

Gameweek 23 pits a number of top teams together as Chelsea host Tottenham and West Ham travel to Manchester United.

By Friday lunchtime, there had been no Covid-19 postponements but disruption is only ever around the corner, as battle-scarred FPL managers truly know.

Having been called off twice, Burnley’s game against Watford at Turf Moor is back on - for Saturday, February 5 during the FA Cup weekend. That means double gameweeks for both with Arsenal first up on the Clarets’ agenda while the Hornets face Norwich.

Here, we run you through our top picks for GW23 with the deadline set for 6.30pm GMT on Friday...

Emmanuel Dennis - Watford - £6.1m

Watford’s double gameweek is certainly kinder than Burnley’s, who first face a trip to the Emirates Stadium while the Hornets host Norwich. Against two teams fighting relegation, Dennis is primed to add to his incredible tally of eight goals and six assists.

Michail Antonio - West Ham - £7.9m

No striker has scored more points in FPL this season than Antonio, who is once again finding form with a goal and assist in his last three matches. Up next is the vulnerable defence of Manchester United - the sort of big game the Hammers thrive in.

Gabriel Martinelli - Arsenal - £5.4m

The Brazilian is a bit of a steal at that price and has only blanked three times in the eight games he has played since breaking back into Mikel Arteta’s side. An underpowered Burnley outfit are the ideal opponents as he looks to add to his momentum.

Diogo Jota - Liverpool - £8.4m

No Mohamed Salah, no Sadio Mane? No problem. The Portuguese forward, down as a midfielder in FPL, hit two goals in midweek and should lead the line again on Sunday, at Crystal Palace.

Lucas Digne - Aston Villa - £5m

It may still be too early to expect Philippe Coutinho to start for Steven Gerrard’s side, so maybe a worthy shout instead is left-back and set-piece specialist Digne. Kicked out by Everton before the sacking of Rafa Benitez, the Frenchman will fancy a slice of delicious revenge on his comeback to Goodison Park on Saturday.

Lucas Moura - Tottenham - £6.6m

All of Chelsea’s attention will likely be on Harry Kane and Steven Bergwijn on Sunday, should the Dutchman start after his brace in midweek. That could allow Moura, playing down the right against the out-of-sorts Marcos Alonso, to swoop in unnoticed. Science.

Jack Harrison - Leeds - £5.5m

There is always the massive danger of missing the boat when it comes to transferring in players off the back of major points hauls. But Harrison is a genuinely good shout with his hat-trick against West Ham arriving after a goal at home to Burnley, meaning there is a strong chance he continues to bang them in against Newcastle this weekend.

Kieran Tierney - Arsenal - £5m

Without Maxwel Cornet, a replacement for Chris Wood, and potentially several other first-team players this Burnley line-up will find it mighty hard to breach the Gunners’ defence on Sunday. Tierney is also the best bet for an Arsenal defender picking up points in attack.
