There were six teams on a bye in Week 14, which forced fantasy football managers into making some less-than-exciting decisions across their lineups — including their defense. The good news is that even if you did have to start a fringe defense in place of some of the more steadfast D/ST units like the Denver Broncos or Houston Texans, you weren't at as significant a disadvantage as it may have appeared from the outside.

After all, there weren't many standout defensive performances this week, especially for fantasy, without a single team scoring more than 13 fantasy points and just four defenses making it to double-digit points. The San Francisco 49ers D/ST was the only team to make it past 10 fantasy points thanks to a seven-sack performance — the highest-scoring unit on the day.

Interestingly, Week 14 yielded the highest collective third-down conversion percentage (43.2%) of any week all season, including a season-low 23 total turnovers forced and the sixth-highest points per game average (47.3) in a single week all season.
