ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Atlanta and linebacker Deion Jones agreed to a four-year, $57 million extension, including $34 million guaranteed. His signing bonus is $11 million.

His four-year rookie contract was set to expire after this season.

A second-round pick out of Louisiana State in 2016, Jones played in just six games last season after suffering a broken foot in September but still notched 53 tackles, six pass break-ups, two interceptions and a sack.

But he started 16 games in 2017, recording a team-high 138 tackles (91 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 10 pass break-ups, and three interceptions. He was named to his first Pro Bowl that season.

Julio Jones next?

With Atlanta agreeing to two key members of its defense, is its offensive star next?

Receiver Julio Jones told TMZ earlier this month that he isn’t going to hold out in pursuit of a new contract, saying owner Arthur Blank had given his word that the six-time Pro Bowler would be taken care of and Blank’s word is “gold.”
