Former Buffalo Sabres enforcer Andrew Peters has been suspended from coaching the Jr. Sabres after his team was involved in a youth hockey brawl Saturday.

“We are very disappointed in the series of events that unfolded during the 15U Buffalo Jr. Sabres game on Saturday,” said Buffalo Jr. Sabres President Kevyn Adams in a statement to local media outlets. “We are currently reviewing the situation and in the meantime have suspended Head Coach Andrew Peters indefinitely until the matter is resolved.”

According to the below video, a fight between the Jr. Sabres and Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs on Saturday at HarborCenter got out of control and spilled near the Jr. Sabres bench area.

The Buffalo News and WIVB-4 said that Buffalo police said they are investigating the fight. The level of Peters’ involvement in the fight has yet to be reported by both outlets. The News reported in its story that the video “appears to show a coach punching an opposing player.”

WIVB was first to report the video.

According to The News, David M. Braunstein who is president of the West Section of the New York State Amateur Hockey Association had received “multiple texts and emails” about the situation.

“I just haven’t had an opportunity to look at it and deal with it. Everybody is interested in it. We want to make sure we do the right thing,” Braunstein said.

The 36-year-old Peters played with the Sabres from 2003-04 through 2008-09. He played his last NHL season with the New Jersey Devils in 2009-10. Over his career he played 229 NHL games and racked up 650 penalty minutes while scoring four goals and adding three assists.
