Former Rutgers quarterback Chris Laviano has reportedly found a landing spot.

Multiple reports say Laviano, who started 18 straight games for the Scarlet Knights over the last two seasons, will transfer to San Diego State. As a graduate transfer, Laviano would be eligible to suit up immediately for the Aztecs in 2017.

Laviano was the team’s starter in 2015 and began the 2016 season in that role, but was benched in favor of Giovanni Rescigno in October. True freshman Tylin Oden and TCU graduate transfer Zach Allen also saw time at QB for Rutgers, which finished 2-10 overall and 0-9 in Big Ten play in Chris Ash’s first season as head coach.

Overall, Laviano threw for 3,102 yards, 21 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 55.8 percent of his passes during his time at Rutgers.

At San Diego State, Laviano joins a quarterback depth chart alongside junior Christian Chapman, the team’s returning starter. However, Chapman, who threw for 1,994 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions in SDSU’s run-heavy offense, is still on the mend from thumb surgery, so the Mountain West champions are pretty thin at quarterback for spring practice.

Per the San Diego Union Tribune, sophomores Ryan Agnew and Neil Boudreau, a converted punter, are the only healthy quarterbacks for spring. Laviano is expected to arrive in the summer alongside two signees, Cam Roane and Mark Salazar.

Another former Rutgers quarterback, Hayden Rettig, has also decided on a new school. He told NJ.com that he’ll play his final season at FCS Tennessee Tech. Rettig, once a prized recruit, began his career at LSU before transferring to Rutgers in the summer of 2014. Rettig competed for the starting role ahead of the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He appeared in four games in 2015, including one start, and threw for 233 yards and two scores. He did not see the field in 2016 and announced his intent to transfer in late November along with Laviano and Mike Dare, who was a redshirt freshman in 2016.

At Rutgers, Rescigno, Odin and Allen are all slated to return and compete for the starting job in 2017. The program also adds three-star recruit Johnathan Allen, a dual-threat quarterback from St. Peter’s Prep in North Jersey.
