Ex-Oklahoma State coach Lamont Evans sentenced to three months in prison

For the second straight day, a former college basketball coach has been sentenced to three months in prison. Lamont Evans, who was an assistant coach at both the University of South Carolina and Oklahoma State, received three months Friday as part of the college basketball bribery trial.

In January, Evans, 41, admitted to accepting $22,000 in bribes to send kids to South Carolina and Oklahoma State. The charges could have resulted in a five-year sentence. A sentence of no more than two years was recommended after Evans reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, according to the Associated Press.

Though Evans has lived in the United States most of his life, he was born in the Bahamas. Because he’s not a citizen of the U.S., Evans could face deportation.

Evans’ sentencing comes a day after Ex-Arizona assistant coach Book Richardson also received three months in prison for accepting $20,000 in bribes.
