Ex-Dallas S Barry Church says Jags have 'a lot more talent' than Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys were 13-3 last season and won the NFC East. The Jacksonville Jaguars have not won 13 games in a season or won a division title this century.

That doesn’t matter to Jaguars safety Barry Church. Church played for the Cowboys for seven seasons before signing with the Jaguars this offseason. And Church thinks the Jaguars are more talented than the Cowboys.

Have fun with this one, Cowboys fans.

“I feel like we have a lot more talent than we did over there,” Church said referring to the Cowboys, according to Big Cat Country. “We just have to keep plugging away and get ready for Week 1.”

The Jaguars have won 17 games over the last five seasons combined.

Now, Church is correct that Jacksonville has much better talent than it has shown the past few seasons. They have spent a lot in free agency and have drafted high more often than not since going 14-2 in 1999. Maybe new coach Doug Marrone can get more out of the roster than old coach Gus Bradley did. To that end, Church said the Jaguars practice harder than the Cowboys do.

“It is a lot more demanding. A lot more periods. I think we had about 18 today. Back on my old team we probably had about 12 or something like that. Like (Marrone) said, there are a lot of new players in here, the coaching staff is trying to figure out who fits where,” Church said, according to Big Cat Country.

So the Jaguars have better talent and practice harder than Dallas. Should be a big year in Jacksonville.

It’s hard to fault Church for wanting to instill some bravado into a Jaguars team that has been beaten down year after year after year. But he’s sure to hear about this one from his friends back in Dallas.
